Together We Stand Painting

Inspired by observations of Beech trees in the forest. A lovely sunny Autumn day, where remnants of leaves still clung to the branches. There is much movement in the overlapping branches - lines for the eye to follow. The work is drawn from sketches and photographs in the forest and painted with dye on tea bags. Tea bags act like a piece of fabric and absorb dye rapidly and exciting tones are created by the existing tea stains. Bleach is added to remove the dye in selected areas, allowing more colours to be applied. The tea bag 'canvas' is extremely durable and has a texture of high quality hand made paper. It is extremely satisfying to recycle these ordinary everyday items and use as an art material.
