About The Artwork
My third great "avatar" animal. The works in this series were born from the psychological path that the I had to forcibly undertake to survive and overcome a serious trauma: the abuses suffered by a trusted person when I was a teenager that continued for several years. These imposing, colorful and slightly austere animals protect me, my strength is their strength. All the qualities that I had to look for in myself to overcome trauma and heal are within them. As in most of my works, the animal's eye is alert and looks directly at the viewer: a symbol of awareness, a silent witness to what happened, a silent judge of Nature. The work is made with watercolor and ink drawing on a paper collage base. The collage acts as a link between figure and background, the colors are vibrant and multi-faceted. The ink drawing is the workhorse with which I love to meticulously describe every detail, observing the work closely we can get lost in every line of the plumage.

Irene Meniconi was born in Florence in 1986, then moved, still a child, in the Chianti shire immersed in nature that will always be the foundamental element of inspiration for his artistic creation. After graduating at the “Accademia delle Belle Arti” in Florence, the artist has collaborated with numerous companies from different sectors: from fashion, to food and wine, to publishing, interior decoration for professional offices, public and private spaces. At the same time she carries on her personal artistic work creating mixed media paintings, the result of the studies and of her artistic career brought along in years. She exhibited his works taking part in solo and group exhibitions in many Italian Galleries.
