‘Tough Mother Ducker! Pink Ribbon’ 40.5cm x 51cm Urban PopArt Painting

Hi, I’m Deborah Lang aka Debstar :) My home based Studio is in North Brisbane, QLD, Australia. It’s my happy place, I love it! My Artist Story began end of 2020 when I decided to revisit reclaimed timber wall hangings which I used to make prior to having children. I lovingly hand crafted these pieces and painted a series of coral and seaweed on them. One day I decided to paint them on canvas and I haven’t looked back, I then started to paint beachscapes, botanicals and nude women… The turning point in My Story came in August 2022 when, inspired by many amazing artists around me I tried a new medium, Spray Paint and hand cut stencils and it was love at first sight! I came alive, it was like I had entered another world that I didn't want to come out of :) This was when ‘Debstar’ (my street name) was born! I love trying new mediums and seeing what they can do, and exploring texture. I love a challenge, and stencils definitely provide that for me. Before I even touch the canvas I spend hours at my computer creating stencils and then hours cutting them, I love how a stencil can pull a piece together. I love layering my pieces with texture, various mediums and pops of colour. My subjects are varied, I paint strong women, nudes, iconic celebrities, flowers, beachscapes, perfume bottles, dogs, ducks, magpies and cockatoos depending on my mood and inspiration at the time. I go between cool, cheeky, cute, funny and beautiful designs. I get so excited creating my paintings it’s truly the best feeling along side people choosing to purchase my work! It’s such an honour, I love it and I hope this comes across in my work.
