Born in 1966 in Rennes, now living in Vitré, I first felt a desire to try painting in 1998 during a trip to Santo Domingo. Back home, I immediately composed my first work. It was inspired by both Aztec motifs and by the style of Paul Klee, whose harmonious and colourful mixture of signs and written words very much attracted me. This painting led to my meeting the painter Kervi, who became my mentor for several years. Upon occasion we even painted together, producing four-handedly (a frequent practice in the Middle Ages) images mainly of castles of the Cathars on wood. Since 2002 I have been evolving completely on my own, passing through several periods. The first was based on the architecture of the Cathars, the second on the art of the Mayas. At present, I am working in a much more personal style : using acrylic paints and very luminous colors, I aim to express the mysteries of the universe through animated and abstract constructions which reveal the perpetual mutation of matter and its ineffable message of joy and hope. Nasca is the name of a desert in Peru. I chose this name as my signature because, like the signs traced in the sand by the Nascas which can be seen only from the sky, my paintings need to be seen and understood from a distance and invoke the need to be open to forgotten or unknown languages and the desire to transcend one’s longings.
