ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This is a highly enlarged image of a common succulent, from a viewpoint looking in toward its origins. The flowers seem to explode outward and get larger as they emerge from the center. The painting starts with a red under coat and I build the image up with thin layers of glaze, allowing the under coat to show through in some areas to add subtlety and variation.
