Trust the process Painting

My name is Katrin Dübbers.I was born in Heidelberg and have lived in the Lüneburger Heide in the north of Germany since 2002. My entire life has been influenced by art – my father was a freelance artist and so I know the smell of the colours from childhood. I am a self taught artist - the desire to paint my dogs motivated me to pick up the brush in 2018 – In the beginning, I was fascinated of the bright colours of pastel and I started studying dogs’ portraits. The photorealistic painting with pastels was addictive – but soon I realised that I want to be more free – and even more creative. I did not want to go in only one direction – I wanted to dance around with all the fabulous possibilities art is offering, and, I am still dancing. I love the colours, textures and the light – this is where my focus is in my art. I am still learning and there is so much variety in art, I know the learning will never end. How beautiful is that! I don’t want to focus only on one subject – I love abstract and still life, portaits like the old masters, but in the next moment I just want to make fun paintings of birds or dogs – just playing around…. - So many times the paining takes on a dynamic I never expected. This is the moment I stop thinking– there are only the colours and me. I love the harmony in the colours and want my paintings to be in harmony with the room – so they start to become one with the room. If the picture has changed or been removed, and you realise that something in the room is missing because that picture is not there – then that is perfection.
