ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I am doing a painting work about my memories, starting from old fotos from the sixties or seventies of my childhood or adolescence. In this particular one me and my elder sister are sitting on a bench in the zoo of Rome with a baby lion, I guess my father took the picture. I was only 3, but I can clearly remember I was extremely scared, because that lion to me was not a baby lion, it was just a lion with all the meanings of the word. My father insisted I had to caress it but I just wanted to run away. In the picture I can clearly see I was forced to pose next to my sister, pretending it was a fun situation, but I was only 3 and a very fearful little girl. Painting those scene helps me going through my fears and dissolve them. Signed at the backside

I'm an Italian artist living in Barcelona (Spain), place where I started my career as a painter. Since I started, painting has become an urgent need. Fascinated mostly by pulsating life, water, but not only, also people and nature in general. Water as an element in eternal transformation. Fish as elusive colored dots constantly moving in the water which occasionally becomes the sky and then all creatures fly. Colors are the vectors of my emotions. Painting to me is a never ending process so that sometimes (quite often) I take old paintings and retouch them, add or change something or simply erase them and start a new one. I use to work on different paintings and subjects at the same time, depending on the energy of the day. I start with an idea but the result is often completely different from the initial concept, I try to flow with the new solution coming out from the canvas. It is a wonderful feeling, having a small piece of mine hanging in houses all over the world.
