ABOUT THE ARTWORK

"Tupelo Honey" is an elegant, minimalistic flower painting worked on 2 canvases as a diptych with a suggestion of leaves. The work is rendered realistically with abstract touches. A wonderful eye-catcher! The sides of the canvases are in the same grey as the background of the roses. The work is sealed with a satin varnish and is signed on the front. This artwork is ready to hang. Hooks are attached to the back of the canvases. Each canvas measures 50 x 70 x 2 cm (19.7 x 27.6 x 0.78 in). So the whole artwork measures 100 x 70 x 2 cm (39.4 x 27.6 x 0.78 in)

ARTIST STATEMENT: Life is a largely subjective experience; but that subjective experience is my bridge to the objective world. And it’s this synthesis of the two that I am trying to capture. INSPIRATION AND PROCESS: I love experimenting and want to give my works an individual expression. I have two lines of work: I love painting almost (but not quite) realistic, somewhat utopian, nature images and on the other hand I really enjoy doing non-objective/abstract art. I am inspired by the beauty and power of natural phenomena, the mystery of nature, its colors and forms. Every painting is a one-of-a-kind work in which I try to combine feeling and thought. I work most of the time with acrylics but I also mix acrylics with other media such as oil pastel, soft pastel, spray paint, graphite and charcoal or ink. All materials I use, if canvas, paper or paints are of artist quality.
