Ulaan Tsutgalan Waterfall Painting

Mongolia’s largest waterfall Ulaan Tsutgalan is located at the Orkhon Valley, which was traditionally viewed as the seat of the imperial power of the steppes. Formed by volcanic eruptions and earthquakes at the dawn of time, the waterfall is part of a rare northwards-flowing river over a thousand kilometres long. Everything about this exceptional setting speaks of the wonder of nature.  
 With strong brushstrokes, the artist depicts this unique landmark in its rarely-seen late winter beauty: due to its remote location, few travelers make the difficult journey there during the months when the entire area is -40C and frozen solid. Patches of crystal ice deep in the plunge-pool reflect the blue sky high overhead, while pale sunlight on the surrounding rock hints at the coming of spring and subsequent thaw.
