I grew up in the countryside in Ireland. In my childhood my favourite pastime was to lie under the big leaves of a sycamore tree, watching the patterns of the shadows. Those blissful, carefree days were the inspiration for this painting.

Ann grew up on the border of the troubled Northern Ireland, her early childhood the sheer bliss of an unrestricted exploration of the outdoors, the beautiful fields and streams that surrounded her families country pub and farm. In 1972 as a young child that came to an abrupt end with the bombing of the pub. Fear replaced freedom and stability. Art became a kind of meditation to blot out the new unknown world. In 1983 Ann went to New York City and spent the next 25 years in Construction Management, painting as a hobby. Over the years taking extended breaks to Ireland to work and rediscover this beautiful peaceful home. In 2016 she returned to Ireland deciding it was time to commit to her true self and make art.
