Understatement Painting

"The foundation of my work begins with the marks I make on the surface, whether on canvas or plate. From these initial gestures, the painting or print evolves organically—textures emerge, colors interact, and movement and depth take shape. My process is intuitive, guided not by a specific image or concept, but by a feeling or emotion that gradually unfolds as meaning begins to surface. I want my paintings to invite quiet reflection, encouraging viewers to linger in the space between the visible and the unseen — to sense something rather than name it. Balancing structure and intuition, I create works that are both formally rigorous and emotionally resonant — meditations on perception, presence, and transformation.
