Painted live at Bethesda Church, Vancouver, WA. February 4, 2018 In my minds eye, I saw a picture of a lion. The Lion of the tribe of Judah. Then I though of that famous scene in ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ by C.S. Lewis... “Aslan is a lion - the Lion, the great Lion.” “Ooh” said Susan. “I’d thought he was a man. Is he-quite safe? I shall feel rather nervous about meeting a lion”...”Safe?” said Mr Beaver ...”Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.” Jesus is the Lion of Judah. He isn’t safe, but He’s good. The title ‘Untamed Goodness’ reflects the character of God. He is good, but He isn’t safe. It’s His goodness that draws us near to Him. His goodness and love diffuses any fear. We can approach Him in confidence. ‘So let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help.’ Hebrews 4:16 MSG The yellows represent the oil of grace – turning something sour into something sweet. His grace is like a waterfall, overwhelming and all consuming. The reddish hues represent the love of life, the mercy of forgiveness that washes away our poisons and brings the healing of Jesus. Purple symbolizes steadfast love with the King of kings. His love is overwhelming. always moving - ever advancing. His golden eyes represent his magnificent presence. The glory of God. Draw near to Him for He is good and He will draw near to you! (James 4:8)
