Until - by Lana Alsamir-Diamond is a part of a continuous interest in themes of closeness, a minimalist abstract. I love painting these large artworks, and love their quiet presence in a space, although they are visually bold. This Artwork can be hung Landscape or Portrait please see more in situ images of both. Moons are a constant in my work, if you have ever watched the moon as religiously as I do, you would know that the moon has so many faces, my fascination started when I used it as a constant presence in my more figurative works, and I slowly became fascinated by the shape and the possibilities it offered to my work, it grew from a representation of the moon to a recurring motif, that is interpreted in many ways, I use the motif to explore closeness, relationships and the energy in-between. Original artwork, Acrylic on unstretched canvas, ships in a tube ready to stretch.

Lana Alsamir-Diamond is a Sydney based artist made her way here via Product design. Alsamir-Diamond’s work is graphic minimal but bold, work that is very personal and reminiscent of the Artist’s life, packed with cultural influences and references to far away places. Silhouettes and composition are the primary interest of the work, a sensitivity for negative space, creates the perfect ground work for colour, that is almost a distraction to the artist but a very welcome one. “I feel my work is very intuitive and involves a fair amount of restraint, for that reason I sometimes find myself producing work that involves more figurative elements, it is almost an instinctive need to be in control, I love the dialogue that two of my pieces can have in the same space. ” Medium and process Lana loves working on paper, she loves that paper is unforgiving and translates her vision beautifully. The Artist uses hand made, 100% cotton rag paper, in natural colour with raw edges. Paints with Japanese ink and only the finest Acrylic paints. Only original artworks sold, no artworks are available as prints.
