Jack uses the color Black to explore what the color Black is not. The hue is generally regarded as a symbolic marker of death, anguish or abscence. However, that does not mean that this pigment's association with such a weighty concept has to be its full identity. Darkness also encompasses the moments before birth, joy and creation. The artist explores the concept that one is able to express the energy of formation and transformation without the use of a traditional color palette thought normally to express these transitions.
