Le paradoxe est que cet aplomb qu’elle nous restitue tient à toute une série d’antagonismes ; ou peut-être est-ce précisément en raison de ces oppositions entre surface et profondeur, matière et légèreté, transparence et opacité, éclat et obscurité, qu’elle nous donne cette certitude d’une totalité aboutie. Grandes ou petites, les compositions de Marc exhibent toujours un en-deçà d’elles-mêmes, une densité d’existence qui semble venir d’avant leur expression picturale, comme si le pinceau ou le couteau avait saisi l’intention significative au moment précis de son surgissement, avant que la conscience ne l’organise trop – et pourtant, cette désignation des origines se voit aussitôt contredite par un ostensible travail de la pure surface des pâtes et des pigments, en grattages, raclages, incisions légères et inscriptions de tous ordres, lettres, chiffres ou silhouettes élémentaires.
