Tif Wolf is a self-taught artist who comes from three generations of multimedia artists—and yet never made visual art until spring 2019. Tif discovered painting abstracts as a form of meditation, without forcing an outcome. Although the results are fluid forms, she uses only tools such as palette knives and scrapers, no brushes. Inspired by creating a space for expansiveness within the self, and how skies can provide such a space, whether viewed in highly-populated cities or Sullivan County. Before becoming a painter, Tif worked at Viacom in television operations, performed as a drummer in a queer rock band, Triple Creme, and also studied and taught martial arts and self-defense to women and transpeople. Tif paints in Narrowsburg and Brooklyn, NY, where she lives with her wife and their dog, Freddie Mercury.
