"Untitled (Giant)", 100x70 cm, acrylic on glued paper, 2022. The painting "Untitled (Giant)" was originally intended as part of the Talking Heads series, but the plan changed during work on another series — large-scale sculptures called "Giants," symbolizing historical memory and its fragile state. I had a dream in which one of the sculptures, with a covered head, bent over me and said, "We are not comfortable whispering" I decided to make this piece separate from the series, blending several recent projects spanning over two years into one small canvas. The bright colors in the work are tempered by dense dark tones, creating a warm depth. The texture of the paper allows the paint to remain on the surface, partially absorbing into the material, giving it a glow like in a fading dream. This piece became an unplanned finale to a series I worked on for two years, while also drawing from my experience with current projects, making it a kind of arbiter or transition point between the past and the present. ! The primary material of all the paintings is slightly damaged due to the intense creation process, which is a conceptual part of the artworks !

Ilya Sprindzhuk (born 1994) Visual artist. Author of paintings and installations, actionism and new media activities. Lives and works in Warsaw. In his art, he often focuses on broad concepts within local contexts: he is interested in in cultural identity, memory, the subject of power and its impact on the current social framework. He strives to uncover new opportunities for discussing complex topics, especially considering the current state of the world. Ilya's works take the form of objects-installations that invade space. As a representative of a specific Belarusian environment, he does not try to limit himself to merely depicting it. It is important for the artist to explore what can happen next and how his work can contribute to world culture. Thus, his work becomes a constant struggle with universality while simultaneously searching for it. Besides art, Ilya is also involved in design, creating visual identities for a wide range of projects, particularly focusing on cultural and exhibition initiatives.
