SHIPPING AND RETURNS

Painted to music at a residency in Florida. This piece iwas painted flat on unstretched canvas and wrap stretched as most of my work. Moved by the flow of the light in the room, the New Age music and the joy of painting in a supportive quiet place. Acrylic works best for me as it dries quickly ...

Biography Elizabeth C. DeMarco DeMarco (b. 1945) is both a figurative and abstract painter. A Jersey girl, she escaped to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and MOMA as often as possible. She is heavily influenced by the 9th Street New York artists of the 40s, whose bravado and tradition-breaking work resonates deeply within her. She uses the primary elements of painting, a language in itself, to express feelings, responses, from her unconscious, often not becoming “knowable” until a piece, or a series is “finished”. She delights in the scale of a painting, energy, and the surprises that come as a work begins to form. As a teen, DeMarco attended the Yard School of Art in Montclair and went on to Skidmore College graduating with a BA. She taught art at Barnstable Academy while taking classes at The Art Center of Northern New Jersey, The School of Visual Arts and The New York Studio School eventually connecting with Aimone Art Services. She still attends residencies in Maine, North Carolina and at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in Florida. Her work has been widely exhibited in the New York metropolitan area including the Clark Gallery at Lincoln Center, Studio 4 West, in Piermont, NY, Studio Montclair, and the Tang Museum, Saratoga. DeMarco’s work hangs in the MC Hotel, Montclair, as well as numerous local and international collections.
