In addition to his work as an artist, Satre is a published writer having written for local and national press in the States such as the Windy City Times and The Advocate. In August 2005, 'The Advocate' named Satre a 'Future Gay Hero.' A year later, Satre was presented with an award from the Capital Pride Committee for leadership in the Washington, D.C. gay and lesbian community. Satre was awarded the Starr Fellowship at the Royal Academy of Arts in 2012 and completed his residency at the RA in 2013 with his solo exhibition 'Big, Big Bang' in the Royal Academy Schools.
