Barb Sherin is a contemporary American painter whose work has been featured in solo exhibitions both nationally and in Singapore. Sherin began her artistic journey in the early 1990s in New York City. “I was just a kid, but it was pure energy. I totally felt surrounded by creativity. I used to roam the city in search of street art—it fascinated me. The artists were amazing, and their work felt free; it told stories and gave voice to people who were underrepresented.” Her passion for design led her to juggle her senior year of high school with training at The French Fashion Academy in NYC. She later attended Parsons School of Design, where she was introduced to the music industry. There, she met pioneering hip-hop photographer Al Pereira, who suggested using her artwork as backdrops for his photo shoots. Soon after, her paintings appeared in magazines alongside recording artists including Schoolly D, MC Ren, Yo-Yo, Tevin Campbell, and Wu-Tang Clan. A native New Yorker, Barb is now based in Barcelona. Living abroad and experiencing different cultures have deeply influenced her artistic vision. “Painting is my life. It lets me express my everyday—whether inspired by someone, something, somewhere, or a moment.” Her art is included in private collections in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Miami, and Spain.
