Art Description

Painting: Acrylic, Ink, Conte, Charcoal, Paint on Paper.

In this piece I was experimenting with darker lighting and hue for the background. A wash of acrylic ultramarine blue and raw umber was applied first , allowing accidental drips to give interesting rhythms to the background.
The figure was composed so as to bring the viewer's eye through and up to the man's face, his look to the right naturally leading one's eye to the right is halted by the slash of white, holding the viewer's gaze at the focus point.. his face..
One is left wondering what has caught his attention in the distance.
