About The Artwork

The obvious source of inspiration for this work, which maintains its anatomical value thanks to the reference image, is Michelangelo Buonarroti’s famous cartoon for the study of The Battle of Cascina: a fresco intended to adorn the hall of the Maggior Consiglio (Salone dei Cinquecento), Palazzo Vecchio, Florence. The painting cast on the support delimited the shapes well and defines the contour in detail, despite the dynamism and frenetism of the whole image. The dripping of pigmented resin directly on the lucite sheet gives an interesting shadow effect projected on the wall behind. Pigmented resin on plexiglass . Dim. cm 49,4×80
