About The Artwork

"Urban Colors" is a thought-provoking painting that captures the essence of urban life through visual language. At first glance, the scene depicts a typical cityscape, with a towering building dominating the canvas. However, upon closer inspection, one notices that the buildings, as well as the rest of the canvas, are adorned with an array of multicolored dots. These dots represent the myriad thoughts, emotions, and experiences of the people who inhabit the city. While the physical environment may seem drab and monotonous, the minds of the individuals who reside there are anything but dull. Each dot symbolizes a burst of creativity, passion, and diversity that permeates through the urban landscape. The title, "Urban Colors," suggests a juxtaposition between the grayscale facade of the city and the inner worlds of its inhabitants. It speaks to the idea that despite the external constraints and uniformity imposed by urban living, the human spirit remains colorful and dynamic. Overall, "Urban Colors" serves as a reminder of the richness and complexity of urban life, inviting viewers to reflect on the kaleidoscope of experiences that define our existence in the modern world.

I am a Swiss artist from the region of Fribourg, Western Switzerland. The cubist representation of urban and industrial subjects in the artworks of the American painters Charles Sheeler, Charles Demuth and partially Edward Hopper, influenced me a lot at the time, making me approach this artistic style. Since then the city and nature, in all its forms, remains a great source of inspiration for me. Through my artworks, I exploit the figurative and graphic style close to abstraction but also realism. Oil paint is the essential material I use for my creations, in some cases I use other media and techniques such as acrylic, ink, charcoal, collage and screen printing.
