VISADE Painting

VISADE is one of a series of paintings Elliott made for his first solo exhibition ON THE PLINTH which was showing at The Studio in Folkestone over the Folkestone Triennial period of 2021. In the exhibition ON THE PLINTH the Elliott displays 7 paintings of women as if they were marble sculptures. The figures are the centrepiece of and array of objects and forms of still life. This arrangement creates a some form of display. Throughout history people have used and various material commodities to enhance their image, or even to communicate with ours, to express themselves and show people who they are, a visade perhaps.
