Art Description

Painting: Oil on Canvas.

We're living in a unique time in history. Most of our planet has already been traversed and cataloged by people who have come before us. Earth, at least from a geographical perspective, has few discoveries left for us. The real unknown lies in the worlds beyond our own.

The primary colors are red, orange, blue, and indigo. Red is a hot, robust, and stimulating color that represents energy. Optimistic and positive, orange adds richness and warmth to everything with which it is associated - it illuminates and enhances other things around it. Blue is a very soothing color that helps calm your mind and reduces tension. Indigo is the color of intuition, perception, and higher consciousness.

✔ The painting signed on the front and back. It is on a gallery wrapped canvas with finished black edges and comes ready to hang. "Vaporous World" conceived and completed by the summer of 2011 at the Island Studio, Jerusalem.

About a process:
This piece I have started with no preconceived notion of where the process will go. There is something magical about the painting being spontaneous, as I only have a certain amount of control over what is out - the rest is serendipity. Although there are only three primary colors, I use various mixtures to create lots of additional shades. By choosing the right hues, I create the desired mood in my pieces.

About a series "Destination Beyond":
Destination Beyond is a window into realms that lie beyond the vanity of worldly affairs. I have a sneaking suspicion that there is more going on than my five senses can tell me. I know I need to explore these unseen realms, relying on my intuition to find the answers I seek. As my attention sinks into the imaginary worlds, it gradually loses the focal dynamics of ordinary perception and at a specific moment, reveals its original potential - pure and living Consciousness. It is a collection of works that gives you the unique possibility of visiting strange and remote places that no man has ever seen.

About the artist:
Alexey Adonin’s paintings are at the intersection of abstraction and surrealism. The layered shapes of color ambiguously represent landscapes and castle-like structures, which appear isolated and far off into the distance, as if we are staring at a mirage that could disappear at any moment. His work projects an inherent tension, with a clear center point in each painting around which every element revolves and impels from. The sense of remoteness and apprehension in work is undoubtedly influenced by his experience as an immigrant, and the political and religious tension he lives with, in Jerusalem. Many of his paintings are inspired by his interest in philosophy and the universal forces that sublimely push and pull us along. He approaches his work without preconception and allows his unconscious mind to direct the formation of his surreal landscapes. As he puts it, “painting should walk through a sort of evolution, like a child who grows up.”
