This painting is based on still image from recently rediscovered Super 8 reel recorded by my father while on business travel in West Africa in the 80s. while filming during a visit to an industrial site, a very elegant African worker wearing a home-made extraordinary hat was captured on camera and posed as if on catwalk. I felt compelled to paint him. This painting was selected by Sonia Boyce for the Summer Exhibition 2020 and subsequently sold.
