ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Most of my abstract work is intuitive. Unplanned except for the colors. For "Vibration" I went with several different grays. Chose beige background and started to apply energetic strokes with wide Brushes. I decided to do a horizon line, to break up the grays. And an accent became rust color. At some point, the painting tells me what it wants. And when to stop. I think I achieved Vibration itself. Ready to hang. Sides are gallery-wrapped so painted on sides

My journey into abstract painting has come by way of a 20 yr. career as a Fashion Illustrator and another 15 years depicting cafés and streetscenes of France. Gradually I've pushed the boundaries between representation and abstraction, forging into lost edges and less articulation of subject matter. This last year I've fallen in love with the total freedom that abstraction allows me. Being spontaneous, playing on larger surfaces with loose brushwork-- this is totally seductive. Like the mid-century expressionists, my inspiration comes from the very act of painting, and my own spin is the New Journey.
