Painting based on photo taken by artist Jacob Mazurek at Saint Michael's Mount, Cornwall, UK. It was an old monastery near Penzance, Cornwall, UK that sits atop an island connected to shore via a causeway. At high tide the causeway is underwater. This feature makes it a spirit-animal of the French city of Mont Sainte Michel on the other side of the English Channel. This is part of a series of paintings of different places that the artist has visited. The styles uses an exaggerated level of contrast while simultaneously washing down the colors to give a dramatic look.
