About The Artwork

Foxes are intriguing. They speak to the child's heart, and they spoke to me when I was very young. I truly wanted a fox pet so much. Loved foxes and still love them. They are very smart, swift, and playful animals. They can move through an open field quite invisibly without leaving a trace. They meld into their environment while having a keen eye to observe everything that is happening around them. Foxes love and take good care of their family and their young ones. I am interested in painting wildlife portraits for several reasons. One is that we humans both admire animals' unique beauty, drawn to their wildness, as well as often fear them. My intention is to bring the creature of the wild into a closer and personal view, to look into their eyes, and see them as another living being while also respecting their untamed nature. I used Daniel Smith Extra Fine watercolor paint including some Daniel Smith iridescent colors that subtly enhance the artwork. On Arches watercolor paper, which is made of 100% cotton.

Zsuzsanna Rossetter was born and raised in Hungary and moved to the United States in 1997. Art has accompanied her all her life and she started to draw at a very early age. Zsuzsa watched her father draw figures and carve wood sculptures, and was especially fascinated by the African face painted in black hanging on the wall of their home that he had made from a half-split log. She grew up in a house with a large garden where everything seemed magical to her: the ferns, fruit trees, and the flowers in springtime. Zsuzsa’s grandparents had a large farm where she would climb on the cherry trees with her cousins. All this created a deep affinity in her toward the natural world and the living things in it.
