Virgin In Heavy Metal Painting

I consider the late and truly great designer, Alexander McQueen, to be one of the great performance artists because his creations were always veering into sculpture...art...and his fashion shows were more like performance art to me. I dedicated a mini art series to his brilliant works as tribute. In this image, painted in canvas on archival paper, I have conjured one of my main characters, Imakatt2, a hybrid cat, who often appears as a Virgin Mary derivative, wearing the butterfly dress over a shirt of bejeweled metal armor that extends to cover the head, as it appeared on the runway of that once iconic Fall 2009 McQueen show. Icons within icons inspiring icons everywhere in my work and as I tend to think in music, I posted this on my IG with a heavy metal song, "Raining Blood" by Slayer that influenced the title of this original painting.
