As a homage to The Vitruvian Man, a pen and ink drawing on paper by Leonardo da Vinci, based on the work of Marco Vitruvio Pollione, architect and writer of Ancient Rome, this remaking of the original is a feat of control; careful dripping of the ink to faithfully capture the precision of the original, coveted work. Today, of course, the famous original is kept in the Cabinet of Drawings and Prints of the Galleries of the Academy of Venice. It is a representation of the ideal proportions of the human body, and shows how it can be harmoniously inscribed in the two “perfect” figures of the circle, which represents Heaven, the divine perfection, and of the square, which symbolises the Earth. By inscribing a man in a circle and a square, we find, as they say, the “squaring of the circle”, man is the unit of measurement of the universe. The proportions are the proof of the existence of a superior entity that regulates the universe through golden fractions and an infinite series of numbers that encode its essence: like a DNA. The dripping of pigmented resin directly on the lucite sheet gives an interesting shadow effect projected on the wall behind. Pigmented resin on plexiglass. Dim. cm 65×65
