About The Artwork

WHEN TWO WORLDS COLLIDE Diptych 2020 150 (h) x 260 (w) x 4,5 cm 59,1 (h) x 102,36 (w) x 1,77 in acrylic and oil on canvas LARGE STATEMENT PIECE LARGE-SCALED DIPTYCH Inspired by long conversations by the fireplace… When two worlds collide, we live for the moments that are worth remembering. Everything else is part of a past that tries to keep us from moving on. I want to see more, feel more, live more, you say. I've already seen a lot, but it's not enough for me. I want to go on until my feet and my curiosity no longer carry me. But the time has not come yet. You look at me expectantly, but I don't say anything. When two worlds collide, love is not a safe place, it never was. Moments and the memories of them may be intended for the universe, but not people. CB/2020 This diptych combines the following works and should be "read" from left to right: * IN THE LIGHT OF THE VIRGIN MORNING 2020. acrylic and oil on canvas 120 (w) x 150 (h) x 4,5 cm 47,2 (w) x 59,1 (h) x 1,77 in left part of the diptych The Awakening: We are giants in the morning light. We have no questions at the beginning. Every breath is a sunny day and feels like paradise. No doubt in our head and in our hearts. We have no fear of the future. We live and we feel. We do not need more. We believe that these perfect and safe days and nights are endless, that they will last forever. But we have to grow up sooner or later. * ON OUR LAST BREATH BEFORE SUNSET, REMEMBER US 2020. acrylic and oil on canvas 120 (w) x 150 (h) x 4,5 cm 47,2 (w) x 59,1 (h) x 1,77 in right part of the diptych The Fading: Late summer becomes autumn and winter is only a matter of time. The show is not over with one last bang. It is a slow process with countless steps from light to dark. The sun is already setting. But we want to resist, we want to stop the sun from running, if only for a short time. But we are no gods. We are not immortal. And tears fall. We feel too young to say goodbye. But we can be proud because we leave footprints here on earth. And it's not over now. We begin to accept our fate and enjoy the time that is given to us. Hope and love are the answers that help us through leaden hours. We smile and kiss and drink. And we remember Dylan Thomas: We don't go gentle into this good night. - There is no real finale, we are only a small part of the circle. * * * * “You cannot swim for new horizons until you have courage to lose sight of the shore.” ~ William Faulkner “Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” ~ Lao Tzu * * * * This diptych is a true LARGE STATEMENT PIECE for a large-scaled, aesthetic, finely nuanced impression on your wall. It is part of my authentic, profound message as an artist. Please read the very extensive, current interview about my art and painting philosophy on my English website (also available as PDF-file for download): www.7and1lives.de/philosophy Both paintings also are for sale as solitaire here at Saatchi Art and as the left and right part of the triptych FROM THE PROMISING FIRST LIGHT TO THE VERY LAST LIGHT (2020). This diptych offers a price advantage compared to the summarized single selling prices. For further information about the specific topic of each artwork and additional photos please visit the pages of the two single paintings at Saatchi Art. About the dimension: This diptych consists of 2 single paintings, each in acrylic and oil on canvas and each with dimensions of 120 (w) x 150 (h) x 4,5 cm / 47,2 (w) x 59,1 (h) x 1,77 inches. I prefer a hanging distance of 20 cm / 7,87 inches between the 2 single paintings. Complete dimensions of this artwork, including the hanging space between both paintings: 260 (w) x 150 (h) x 4,5 cm / 102,36 (w) x 59,1 (h) x 1,77 inches. I use exclusively oil and acrylic paints, canvas and wooden frames in a professional museum quality. The 3 paintings bear my signature on the front and they are signed, entitled and dated on the backside. Deliberately the XL-sides (about 4,5 cm / 1,77 in wide) are no part of the paintings and show the pure white canvas with a few sprinkles of color, which emphasizes the intuitiveness of the painterly process of creation. Optional: If desired by the collector, these sides can also be painted black after purchase and before delivery. The paintings are unframed and ready to hang (on the backside: high-quality iron plates with metal inserts and nylon rope for gallery use), and they don’t need a frame or any additional surface treatment. Every painting needs a single hanging (no backside connections between the paintings). The diptych will be safely shipped in one custom wooden crate and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a cover letter. Please note: In context pictures are not necessarily to scale and are for illustrative purposes only. If you have any questions about this painting or any other piece, feel free to contact me and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. Thanks so much for taking an interest in my work. Stay healthy. Warm wishes, Christian

CHRISTIAN BAHR has been a passionate, profound German painter and experienced draftsman for over 35 years, selling his works worldwide. His works can currently be found in private collections and public spaces in the US, Mexico, Canada, UK, China, Thailand, Australia, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Malta, Sweden, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. His atmospheric large paintings are poetry and artistic struggle at the same time. They capture both harmony and conflict, overall reflecting a strong aesthetic. He has participated in many national and international exhibitions. What he believes in: ........................................................................... “Not everything is art. But art is everything and everything breathes art in one way or another. Art is the true beauty of mankind.” ........................................................................... “I work in my studio nearby the big German coastal city of Hamburg, on the North sea. I’m a seeker as a painter, in search of answers. The single human takes center stage. I work constantly, with great passion and discipline on my further artistic way. I have a clear, strong painting philosophy. And I deal with philosophical, mythological as well as with historical subjects in my works.” ........................................................................... “I go my own way in my paintings. I find the source for my inspiration in me. Spontaneous action is the key, my preferred method. I work intuitively and in most cases without previous sketches, because I do not need a creative distance, I only reduce the view of our surroundings. Added value and clarity through abstraction. It must be rough, original, melancholic, dark, and yet at the same time bright, poetic, clear and full of hope. No maybe, no lukewarm. Every moment counts. That's exactly how I paint." ........................................................................... “Painting is a beauty, soul and passion, but sometimes fighting. A fight with myself, an endless struggle for colors and motif in my own conversation, as a rough internal dialogue. There are these days and nights, when I fight for every single brushstroke, when I question every color scheme. But it is good it is not always easy. Because each artistic battle is worthwhile and shows that I am - as an artist - still alive, breathing and developing.“ ...........................................................................
