About The Artwork

I made a series of works related to my personal view towards humanity and how the history of mankind is somehow viewed in my opinion as a chronicle of disasters. Using simple shapes and three basic colours white, yellow and black (WYB) to create a dialogue between object and the viewer. This abstract dialogue can have multiple interpretations it depends on the viewer to decide and question its purpose of existence in our physical world. WYB or white/yellow /black questions the viewer to analyse the importance of these basic colours in terms of certain gaps, discrimination and in some cases racism among minority groups of people in our societies. If we take a close look into colonialism and its past we will notice that Europeans controlled, exploited and forced their language and cultural values upon other nations or people. The establishment of new colonies was a way to increase the conquerors power and resources. This was a practice developed in antiquity by ancient Rome, ancient Greece, ancient Egypt and Phoenicia, modern colonialism or the age of discovery in which begins in the 15th century when Portugal began to expand their resources and searching for new trade routes outside of Europe. The discovery of North Africa, India, China and Brazil developed the interest of other European countries to explore new countries and expand their power. By 1914 the world had been colonized by Europeans using their power to control and influence other nations. Influence, control, slavery gave origin to Imperialism although we must realise the evolution of humans and the mixture of our DNA has a long history that makes it difficult to understand our origins and ancestors.
