Waking Poseidon Painting

Waking Poseidon was another venture into exploring my current processes of disintegration, while limiting myself to a simpler design. The glowing blues really have a sense of magic and coolness, and comes across as historic and naturally distinguished. Although my art is nonobjective, I almost respond to this as a minimalist waterscape. A very dramatic mood. This painting is framed in a smooth black wood floater frame. As framed, the painting is 37.5x37.5x2 Inches. The painting itself is 36x36x1.5 Inches. It is finished with several layers of permanent polymer varnish which has a satin, slightly glossed surface. Despite their names, my art is nonobjective. I am inspired by texture, happenstance and the patina of worn surfaces; natural and manmade. I see grace and nostalgia in their visual history. I think this sensitivity allows me to approach my work with an uninhibited perspective on aesthetics, using color and visual texture as the primary elements in my geometric compositions. Each painting takes me on its own journey in which I intuitively listen and respond, incorporating of a variety of techniques and countless layers of acrylic and mixed media, constantly accumulating and reducing the applied materials until each piece finds its own end.
