ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Walking on Eggshells is an oil/mixed media painting on Arches Oil Paper. I chose a limited, more neutral palette in order to emphasize shape, mark and contrast. These paintings feel a bit like a puzzle as I'm making them, fitting shapes and marks in a balanced, expressive composition, and this long narrow format takes me on a journey.

I was born in Canada in 1953 and currently work in my home studio in Vancouver BC. I began my working life in medicine but had always been drawn to a career in visual arts. In 1993, I started learning and working as an artist full-time. I have a deep desire to paint non-objectively, allowing colour and mark-making to emanate from somewhere inside my body other than my conscious self. This intuitive practice often seems careless and haphazard, but is actually passionate and engaging.
