ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I had a frame that housed a painting I didn't like. I destroyed the painting and was eager to fill the frame with a painting I liked. I most often paint in a horizontal so I flipped the frame to a vertical. I attempted to create a work with deep perspective and this painting emerged. I spent a lot of time on detail in the foreground of each lily and lily pad and added a lone dragonfly to put some life in the sky above the pond.

I grew up close to New York and so I spent time as a child in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MOMA and the Guggenheim, among others. It shaped me as an artist. I started painting in oil at age 12. Through my adult life I have worked part-time jobs to allow time in the studio. I love time alone and working with the magic of oil paint. Nature is my inspiration.
