Water Comes Down Painting

Water Comes Down recalls Chinese landscapes created in the Shan Shui tradition, with a strong sense of height in the painting resulting from the use layered vertical brushstrokes both in the smooth sky in the background and the more heavily textured verdant tree-covered rock cliffs. The waterfall, another common feature of Chinese landscape art, flows down softly, its a misty spray nourishing the trees on its way to collecting in a pool at the bottom. Two bear figures wade and drink in the pool of water.The viewer, unlike the figures, can see the landscape in its entirety and appreciate that the water sustains life at many elevations.
