REK continues his popular freedom of nature series in this small scale, bold abstract interpretation of one of the artists favourite flowers placed in Waterford crystal diamond cut vase - dramatic blue hydrangeas are deconstructed and juxtaposed against the graffiti scrawl and haphazard application of contrasting yellow tones. REK uses free flowing liquid mediums and revises the bold gestural movements his work first took on at the genesis of his career as an artist, coupled with the artist’s repetitious graffiti style background obscured in a whitewash of diluted paints and other mediums, they become a hazy memory of the vibrant colours they once were.
