About the Artist

Jolanta Kitowska

Poland

Born in 1968, the artist comes from Pomerania region in Poland. During her seven-year stay in the USA, she graduated with honors from the Stratford Career Institute in Art. She perfected a workshop as a member of the Long Island Art League. After returning to Poland, she opened the Rumska Painting Studio and is a founding member and secretary of the Association of Artists "Pasjonat". Co-author of the projects "Artists for Education" and "Rumski Plener Malarski". Numerous exhibitions, group and individual, as well as participation in plein-airs in Poland and beyond (Italy, Jordan, Cyprus) are an important part of the artist's life.
For nine years, Rumska Pracownia Malarska has been a place of workshops for adults, youth and children from Rumia and the surrounding area, as well as a meeting place for artists. The pandemic forced a change in the formula, now the studio acts as a creative workplace for Jolanta and Mariusz Kitowski.
The artist's painting work can be included in thematic cycles. The most important of them:
• "The Soul of a Portrait" - a series of portraits of young people
• "Dance of trees" - fascination with the forest and its diversity
• "Kenya - Returns" - a series of large canvases inspired by a trip to Africa.
• "Jordanian tales" - fascination with the country of the stone desert and ancient Petra
• "Elephant Ears" - stories of orphaned elephants told on canvas
• "Masks" - works inspired by the situation of pandemic and isolation
• "Virus of freedom" - another cycle started during the pandemic
