About The Artwork
An atmospheric, abstract oil painting that is part of a series of landscape paintings incorporating the horizon line, creating a sense of place, distance and calm. The light spills through the green trees, which overhang and reflect on the surface of the lake, forming cool, dark shadows. Several layers of oil paint have been built up, using both brushwork and palette knife, allowing each to dry before adding the next. Texture has been created with raw pigment rubbed into the linen canvas, resulting in depth and a moody atmosphere. Ready to hang. This painting is on linen canvas that I have stretched over a wooden frame. It is signed and dated on the back and comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity. Artwork will be carefully wrapped in tissue paper, foam board and bubble wrap, then placed in a sturdy cardboard box.

Lizzie Butler is an expressive, semi abstract artist, who works in a contemporary style in oil. Her strong spatial awareness and a passion for working en plein air, inform her practice and lead to paintings that recreate the intangible atmosphere found in landscapes and the peaceful silence of nature. Most of her paintings are begun outside and completed in her London studio. Although working primarily in oil, Lizzie also enjoys the physicality of exploring etching with zinc and steel plates, to create intaglio prints. Lizzie Butler's artwork has been exhibited at Leighton House Museum, Kensington, London, The Russell Gallery, London, and several other Galleries. Lizzie's paintings can be found in collections in America, New Zealand, the UK and across Europe, with several customers returning to buy further paintings and place commissions. March 2019 - Two pieces shortlisted for the Royal Academy of Arts summer exhibition.
