ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This oil painting was inspired by recently rediscovered family home-movie stills of the 1970s. After a lengthy editing process, a still was selected to be transformed into a painting and a new story. Colour is very important to my work and I only use high quality oil paints laid over a coloured ground in thin layers to enhance the luminosity of the work. The end result is an enigmatic and melancholic painting.

Antonia Jackson is a French born London-based artist and a graduate from Wimbledon College of Art. She is interested in memory and the cinematic and her paintings stem from found family archives ( and more precisely rediscovered Super 8 home movies) that she brings back to life through the medium of painting. Essentially narrative, her work hovers between figuration and abstraction and her bold use of colour is influenced by post-Impressionist French and German painters.She has exhibited extensively in the Uk and has started exhibiting in France. She has recently been selected for the RA Summer Exhibition 2020. Her work is held in private collections in the UK, France,Austria and Greece.
