"When Did You Have It Last?" Is a gestural abstract painting about the feeling of searching for something dear. Bright green continuous strokes meander throughout a lime field and are punctuated by serene pink moments. At four by four feet, this happy painting is a perfect emerald anchor for any space.

Liz Rudnick was born in Herlev, Denmark in 1989. She received her BFA in painting from Carnegie Mellon University in 2012 and showed extensively in the Pittsburgh region before moving to New York in 2019. Her bright, assertive artworks are achieved via the layering of intuitive, chaotic gestures with more deliberate choreography and involve both digital and analog image-making processes. Tangled interiors, complex plant life, and discarded objects are favorite subjects. Rudnick’s work celebrates movement and features labyrinthine forms punctuated by moments of geometric clarity that actively engage the history of painting while taking cues from such events as a flutter of wind through thick branches or the frenzied rush of a friend who can’t find their keys. She lives and works in New York City.
