ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The pandemic has challenged me to continue to be hopeful and engaged while continuing to be endlessly creative. Using people as the source along with the oppressiveness of the pandemic, six feet has become a relentless mantra which can be maddening. the work has allowed me to get familar with myself and not fear my own nakedness. In my small mediation room the sun pours in and has become my container.

I use pop culture references focusing on celebrity, fashion, and cinema in combination with my private emotional life that changes from day to day. Using images that I find in the halls of the internet and transform through my imagination (as well as photographs that I take myself), I switch back and forth between oils and water-based paints to keep the flows of the painting as fresh as possible. Having grown up as the daughter of a staff LIFE photographer, my connection to photographs is particularly profound. I grew up thinking in pictures.
