The diptych explores the essence of existence within a collective urban landscape. Bodies merged and intertwined forming a fluid almost indistinguishable mass that speaks to the complexity of living among others. One panel figures meld nto one another and the lower panel is filled with abstract urban structures - representing the ways in which our identities are shaped and defined by the spaces we inhabit. This painting captures the tension between individuality and community, the personal and the collective, in an interplay of form and color.

Sanjoy Bose is an artist living and working in Kolkata, India. His art has been exhibited in galleries across the country and is internationally installed in homes and businesses via private commissions (as seen in Elle Decor). Bose acts on the board for Cultural Activists of Bengal and he participates reguarly as a street artist with Performers Independent, breathing life into public spaces. For the past several years, Bose used art to help shape lives by encouraging a new generation of children and teens to think and respond to the world creatively through art classes at Kolkata-based NGO, New Light (featured in the NY Times best-selling book & American documentary, Half the Sky). He has also used that approach to workshops held by the same organization; seeking to heal and empower women who have been trapped in the commercialized sex trade. Currently Bose is working on UNESCO-sponsored projects through ; a social enterprise aiming to preserve and celebrate the rich, cultural heritage of local artisans as a means of sustainable development.
