I was watching an old Anne Bancroft movie, The Pumpkin Eaters. It was a very stylishly shot black & white and the images were compelling. Currently living and painting in San Miguel De Allende, Mexico "Transported by love, light and vibration, my paintings combine rhythm, design and universal energy, with undulating, saturated color thickly applied with decisive authority. I paint to woo the viewer into my world-view that celebrates the beauty that nature provides whether I’m expressing this abstractly or representationally. It is a reminder that this should be what its all about, to activate the imagination and emotional centers into that eons old place of gratitude." Cindy Friedlander The past several years Cindy has spent time in Southern California with views over the ocean and sunset fostering a creative burst of new subject matter and vibrant color, expressed with her signature energetic style. In 2016 Black & White street photography of the 1950's became an influence in a new series of abstracted figurative landscapes, delving into the emotional stories of women in streetscapes and using colour specifically placed to heighten the viewers connection to the images. Expressing her inspiration in many styles, from abstract to impressionist to abstract expressionist to realism, her singular aim has been to project the joy she feels in the gift of life on earth, in the colors and patterns in nature and the landscape, our place in the scheme of things, and the mystical realities of life. Friedlander has a loyal following in Toronto and has been painting large scale murals and paintings by commission for many years. You will receive a Certificate of Authenticity for all original paintings with signature "Cyn" on the front and detailed with title and and full name signature on the back. They are prewired for easy hanging.
