Art Description

Painting: Ink, Gesso and Black & White on Paper.

One of a series of studies inspired by drawings from rehearsals for Woman of the Apocalypse, music composed by Sir James MacMillan and premiered in the UK in 2015.

The painting aims to capture some of the impressions: music, atmosphere and a recollection of the experience, a meditation on the nature of memory.

The ink interacts with the gesso in a way that is unpredictable and cannot be changed once that mark is made.
