ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Rapt is part of my series of paintings titled "Wonderland" and is all about keeping our sense of wonder. Do you wonder as you wander? Now that we are living in the mountains, my husband and I regularly hike through the beautiful trail system in our community or in the surrounding forests of the North Georgia Mountains. We live at the southernmost tip of the Appalachian Trail and there is an amazing amount of beauty around us. During our walks in the woods I find myself stopping frequently to look at the variety of Mother Nature's bounty; patterns and textures of bark or a ray of sunlight that creates bright sparkles on the ripples of a stream. My hubby now joins me in looking for these little gems and will say “you have to come and see this” and point to a gracefully-twisted and petrified vine that looks like a sculpture. Walking in the wilderness, even in winter, can bring a sense of awe at the splendor of each new season. These painting, one of six in the series, reflects my wish to always keep that childlike sense of wonder.

Her works lets you know the artist has a rich and interesting life - played out on canvas. I adore knowing Jacqueline more deeply through her body of visually stimulating works - yet, resting in them as well. A very delicate balance..."
