About The Artwork
This painting was inspired by a series of plein air paintings at James River Park's "Pony Pasture" in Richmond Virginia. This section of the park was so-named because at one time the land-owners in the area would let their ponies graze along the river bank. I love the trees along this stretch of the riverbank with their twisted and exposed roots, so weathered but still enduring. Though the river is so compelling, this view looking opposite from the water caught my eye and convinced me to stay awhile and enjoy the quiet beauty of the forest.

During college and after graduation, her focus was largely centered on exploring the human figure.
