ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Being the first completed painting at the Royal College of Art, I distilled my initial experience of being in a new and unknown place within the boundaries of this canvas. During my ongoing painting masters at the RCA (2017-2019) I have undertaken a deep study of Utopian and Dystopian cultures found within cinema, theater and literature. My current works form a series of work within the creation of different narratives of utopian and distopian worlds that could have been. The title of the work is inspired from Yevgeny Zamyatin's sci-fi novel We (1924). A forced confrontation of the familiar yet unknown.
