Wreck Neck Truck is a large acrylic painting that sits between machine, wreck, body, and structure. The image suggests a truck, but it also feels like a cage, a skeleton, or a damaged animal. Artem Artem Artem also known as Artem Alexeev is a painter based in Denmark. Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, he studied at the Academy of Applied Arts in St. Petersburg and has developed a long artistic practice rooted in painting, drawing, observation, and the construction of form. His paintings move between figuration and abstraction, with a strong focus on process, material presence, layered construction, and transformation. Drawing remains present as the internal structure of the work, while painting becomes the field where colour, surface, movement, and spatial tension take physical form. Alexeev’s works often begin from observation, but they do not aim to copy appearances. He is interested in the forces that make form present: rhythm, balance, pressure, contour, colour, and the relation between body and surrounding space. Alongside his artistic practice, he has more than twenty-five years of international experience teaching drawing, painting, and visual thinking.
